The Peer Archetype's Choice

Most at Ease in the Army

The time in your life you felt most at ease was in the army, wasn’t it. I said it when I was only halfway through the chart.

…Huh. He didn’t answer right away. I’ve been out of the army for decades, but I still dream about it. Dream about getting up in the morning for drill.

And my family, then. He said: three sons — which one didn’t I raise? How is it that now I’m old, not one of them is close to me

After a while I said: in the army you led men. At home, you still led the same way.

This man enlisted in 1968 and served until he retired as a battalion-level officer. His three sons were born in 1974, 1976 and 1982.

At New Year, the second son will come home.

What the Chart Shows

Afterword: people of the Peer Archetype like group life — especially this man, whose Shadow Regent is unchecked, so he prefers places with stricter rules. For people of that generation, that mostly meant the army.

When we pick up a chart, the first thing to look at is which month the person was born in. He is a Well Mansion (井) person born in the 酉 month; the mansion’s element is Wood, and Wood born in the 酉 month is weak. On top of that, his Imprinting Star is a Peer Star, so in character he doesn’t hold many firm views of his own — he easily goes along with whatever others say, is unsteady in his positions, and is easily deceived. His Shadow Regent, Ethereal Benevolence, sits in the Partnership Palace, meaning his partner is mostly not much help. And Mars in the Creativity Palace (children), an Expression Star, makes him believe that everything he does is understood by his children as being done for them.

In reality, the children don’t appreciate it at all.

The Remedy

His remedy is quite simple. Next January will be a good moment: rather than stepping forward himself, he should ask friends to step in and talk to the three children. It will work surprisingly well.
