The First Chart of Zi Wei Dou Shu: Tian Xing Ming Pan, Part 2
On a Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗數) chart, it matters more that Zi Wei (紫微), Tian Fu (天府), Tai Yang (太陽) and Tai Yin (太陰) are strong.
Why Zi Wei Dou Shu has to do with cultivation
Why do I say Zi Wei Dou Shu has more to do with cultivation?
Because it first came down to us from Daoism.
And the final goal of Daoism is, of course, to cultivate toward immortality and transcendence.
To say that Zi Wei is the emperor points in a completely different direction from that Daoist goal.
If you are cultivating toward immortality, why would you care about emperors? Only by chance would you end up at an emperor’s side, and even then that would not be the goal.
Zi Wei is xing, Tian Fu is ming
So what is Zi Wei? Why is the system named after it?
Zi Wei is the will of the self. It is the true self. It is the xing (性, inner nature) in the dual cultivation of xing and ming (性命雙修).
And Tian Fu is the ming (命, life) in xing and ming. It is a person’s body, vital essence and physical form, and by extension the treasury.
So when Zi Wei and Tian Fu are together in the Yin (寅) palace, xing and ming meet, and the person is born carrying yang energy.
That is what the Tian Xing Ming Pan (天星明盤) is meant to show.
The other stars, including Tai Yang, Tai Yin and the rest of the twelve major stars, also have a more fundamental meaning, and all of it can be seen from the Tian Xing Ming Pan. That is for several more articles.
