Descending Lunar Node

羅睺

Shadow Regent of Mars — the Moon's descending node; note: names are transposed relative to Vedic astrology.

The Descending Lunar Node (羅睺) is the Shadow Regent of Mars in Eastern Classical Astrology — the point where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic plane in a descending direction.

As a Shadow Regent of Mars, its energy pattern reflects Mars's excessive, compulsive dimension: an overdrive of familiar patterns leading to rigidity, repetitive force, and the destructive momentum of doing what one already knows too well, past the point of reason. Where Mars governs decisive action, the Descending Lunar Node governs the compulsion that can arise when mastery hardens into fixation.

It is a night star in Eastern Classical Astrology, alongside the Lunar Apogee.
